The exit of Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri came as little surprise as the Italian tactician had been rumored to be on his way out of the club towards the end of the season.
Former Blues legend Frank Lampard has been placed as the overwhelming favourite to become the next manager at Stamford Bridge.
Lampard was impressive at Championship side Derby leading the club to within 90 minutes of promotion. If Lampard makes the move as speculated he would need to work with the existing options at the club due to the transfer ban placed on the club by FIFA.
We take a look at the potential first eleven that the English man could field next season.
In goal Spanish stopper Kepa Arrizabalaga would be expected to keep his place in goal after his record move from Atletico Bilbao last season.
The back four could see a change as Emerson has usurped Marcos Alonso in the left back position. Club captain Ceasar Azpilicueta would retain his position on the right with Rudiger and Christensen in the centre –back positions.
Jorginho looks like the odd one out after the departure of Sarri but the Italian is too talented to stay on the bench. He would form an excellent midfield trio with Kante and Loftus-Cheek.
The attack will also change as it is unlikely that Higuain remains at the club and Atletico Madrid are likely to make Morata loan deal permanent. This leaves Olivier Giroud upfront supported by Willian and new boy Christian Pulisic on the wings.
Chelsea fans would be hoping that the arrival of Lampard would see the club make improvements after finishing third in the Premier League last season.
