Premier League outfit Arsenal are reportedly closing in on the transfer of Celtic defender Kieran Tierney. According to reports from a Daily Record, the transfer could be completed in the next 48 hours.
The report claims that Arsenal are confident that their latest bid worth £22 million should be enough to get the player. The same report says that Celtic are still holding for £25 million.
Arsenal boss Unai Emery is thought to be the one pushing through the transfer as he wants a change in the left–back positon. Nacho Monreal spent the majority of the season as centre back while Saed Kolasinac is considered a liability when defending as he tends to overlap without tracking back opposing wingers.
Tierney is considered as the perfect player for this role as he has the ability to make overlapping runs while maintaining defensive shape. He has also been outstanding for the Scottish champions and is a reliable performer.
It is also reported that the Gunners want to hasten the deal after Napoli made a last ditch attempt to sign the player.
Arsenal would do well to sign the 22-year-old as he possesses the potential to develop into a world-class performer.
Meanwhile Celtic appear to have resigned to losing the player and have signed Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo as his replacement.
