Arsenal FC are expected to make the official announcement of Nicolas Pepe’s transfer deal anytime from now. This comes after the Ivory Coast international was reported to have undergone his medical this afternoon at the Gunners training camp at London Colney.
With attacking wing settled, it seems Arsenal manager Unai Emery is now set to focus on the weakest point in his team, which is the defence.
The BBC Sports report that Arsenal have been linked with two center back defenders which they hope to sign before the close of the transfer window in few days time.
This comes as Arsenal are set to lose the duo of Shkodran Mustafi and Laurent Koscielny this summer.
While the identity of one of the would-be defender remains unknown, the Express UK has claimed that the Gunners are in pursuit for Kieran Tierney from Celtic.
The Gunners have seen two of their bids rejected by the Scottish club for Tierney but the latest report reveal Arsenal are ready to beat the £30 million demanded by Celtic to at least £25 million.
Tierney is one of the top defenders in the Scottish football league and would serve as a better replacement for Mustafi, whose performance has been woeful at Emirates stadium.
Reports from England reveals that Arsenal are determined to offload Mustafi either on loan or on a permanent transfer.
On the other hand, Koscielny wants to leave Arsenal on a free transfer and has gone AWOL.
It remains to be seen ho Unai Emery fixes the club’s defensive setup going into the new season as they conceded 51 goals in the English Premier League last season.
