Arsenal are reportedly keen on signing Fiorentina ace Jordan Veretout according to reports from Italy.
It is widely reported that the Gunners have made a late bid for the combative midfielder. Veretout has emerged as one of the best box-to-box midfielders this season for the Viola outfit this season.
Napoli were initially thought to be favourite for the player as the Naples-based outfit had negotiated a transfer fee of around €22 million for the player.
In a late twist, Arsenal are believed to be desperate to sign the midfielder as a replacement for Aaron Ramsey.
Arsenal boss Unai Emery views Vetertout as an ideal fit in the midfield alongside Torreira and Granit Xhaka ahead of next season.
With a limited transfer budget for the summer, Emery is looking for quality bargain signings and Vetertout fits the bill.
The 26-year-old showed versatility last season scoring five goals and assisting three in what was his personal best stats in his career.
Vetertout is not the only midfielder from the Italian League linked to Arsenal as Sampdoria ace Dennis Praet is a reported target for the club. It looks likely that one of these players would be plying his trade at the Emirates next season.
Who it would be remains to be seen as the transfer window begins to heat up.
