Arsenal open talks to sign potential Laurent Koscielny replacement

Arsenal defender, Laurent Koscielny has been linked with a transfer move to France, which has put the Gunners in the race for a new centre-back as a likely replacement this summer.

Reports from England disclose that Arsenal FC have made enquiries about Issa Diop from West Ham.

The Mirror also hinted that manager Unai Emery had open talk about Diop three weeks ago, which may mean that Arsenal are pushing for another centre-back.

Arsenal have signed 18-year-old William Saliba from Saint-Etienne during the ongoing transfer window but they loaned him back to the French club immediately which means he wouldn’t be joining them until next season.

Save for Daniele Rugani, Diop is the only option left for the Gunners but West Ham are said to be asking for £65 million for the defender before they can let him leave.

Considering Arsenal’s budget, it is hard to say if they can complete the deal, but seeing how they were able to convince Lille to sell Nicolas Pepe , tit is naïve to rule out any transfer move under Emery.

Arsenal would have faced stiff competition from Manchester United, who had initially shown interest but have now turned their focus on Leicester City’s Harry Maguire.

Diop made 33 appearances for the Hammers last season and his performance was good.

It would be nice if Arsenal can add Diop to their list of defenders considering how weak their defense was from last season.
