Arsenal have been busy in the transfer window and recently completed the signing of Gabriel Martinelli. According to reports from England, the London club are looking to add new signings to the team and have turned to French defender William Saliba.
It is understood that Arsenal boss Unai Emery has informed the club of his desire to sign the Saint-Etienne defender. Saliba is considered as one of the top young prospects in the French League after breaking into the first team last season.
Both clubs have been locked in talks for the past few weeks but no concrete agreement has been made so far. ESPN claims that Arsenal have made a transfer bid of €30 million for the Frenchman.
The good news is that Saint-Etienne are already eyeing a move for Nimes winger Denis Bouanga, which may mean they are expecting a cash from the sale of the Arsenal-bound Saliba.
Saint Etienne wants the defender on loan next season, which Arsenal had earlier objected to but from all indications, it looks like a deal has been agreed.
Saint Etienne new manager Ghislain Printant alluded to the fact that an unknown club wanted the player. While French reporter Nabil Dhellit claims that both teams are closing in on the transfer.
It is certainly looking like a deal could be reached in the coming days and the defender unveiled before the start of pre-season.
