Chelsea face German side Borussia Monchengladbach in their last game of the pre-season as they look forward to the new season. The London club have been impressive so far winning in all but one of their matches so far.
Despite this excellent form one area that would concern manager Frank Lampard is the defensive frailties in recent matches. The Blues have conceded six goals in their last two outings despite winning both matches.
This should be a source of concern for the former Derby County boss ahead of the opener away to rivals Manchester United. This startling stats could be partly due to the absence of defensive kingpin N’Golo Kante due to injury.
The Frenchman is likely to miss Saturday’s clash but could be fit ahead of the opener at Old Trafford. However long-term absentees Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ruben Loftus-Cheek remain sidelined after Achilles surgeries.
Both players are expected to be fit in about three months time, while Antonio Rudiger and youngster Reece James could sit out much longer. Lampard has a large squad to cater for these absentees with a number of loan players returning.
Mason Mount is expected to have big season while Tammy Abraham could enjoy a breakout campaign with the Blues.
