Chelsea have endured a quiet summer due to the transfer ban placed on the club by FIFA in February. However, the club have been busy offloading some of their fringe players ahead of the 2019/20 campaign,
One of such players is right-back Davide Zappacosta, according to reports from England the Italian international could leave the club this week.
It is understood that Zappacosta is the one pushing for a move to his native Italy as he looks to resuscitate his career. The 27-year-old signed from Torino two seasons ago but has been unable to dislodge club captain Cesar Azpilicueta from the first XI.
The emergence of youngster Reece James has also been a source of worry for the player as this could mean lesser playing time. Italian sides Roma and Inter Milan have been linked with a move for the player.
Zappacosta was left out of the 2-2 draw in Chelsea’s last pre-season game against Borussia Monchengladbach signaling that a transfer could be close.
The departure of Zappacosta will put an end to rumours to Reece James leaving Chelsea this summer. The 19-year-old has been linked with a move to Crystal Palace with reports suggesting that the Eagles had seen a £25 million offer rejected.
It remains to be seen how this set of transfers would occur with less than five days until the end of the transfer window.
