Wolfsburg midfielder Xaver Schlager made a statement recently that would excite the Arsenal fans.
According to Kicker, Schlager disclosed that as a boy in Austria, he had been dreaming of making it abroad since he was seven.
He also posited that the Austrian league is not as attractive like the Premier League which he hopes to move to soon.
Speaking to Kicker, he said: “As a boy in Austria, you already start dreaming of making it abroad at the age of seven.
“The league just isn’t that attractive.
“I haven’t reached my final goal yet, now the next goal is coming.
“I’ve been a fan of Arsenal since I was a child.
“That’s my dream club, and it’s my dream to get to play there.”
This statement, however, is coming from Schlager, who just joined Wolfsburg a month ago.
One would wonder how the fans of the Bundesliga club would feel about the statement after seeing their club spend £13 million as transfer fee to sign the 21-year-old midfielder from Austrian club, Red Bull Salzburg.
Schlager during his stay in Austria was a key member of the Red Bull squad in his last season. He scored eight goals and four assists in 44 appearances in all competitions.
The Austrian, who recently signed a new deal with Wolfsburg is expected to remain at the club deal until 2023.
But it looks like he might not stay in the German side for long as he is already thinking of a switch to Arsenal in the EPL.
Should Arsenal finally sign Dani Ceballos on loan from Real Madrid this summer, it is unlikely that the Gunners will still go after another midfielder.
