Liverpool are reportedly set to lose out on the transfer of Portuguese midfielder Bruno Fernandes according to reports from Italy.
Corriere Dello Sport claims that Manchester United have finalised a £63 million move to Old Trafford.
Liverpool were thought to be interested in the creative midfielder but it appears that he could be headed to their bitter rivals. It is understood that although manager Jurgen Klopp is a huge fan of the midfielder, no concrete offer has been made by the club.
Fernandes scored in the friendly between Liverpool and Sporting Lisbon on Thursday and Klopp had a close look at the player.
Manchester United have agreed a deal in principle for Fernandes and he is expected to arrive Manchester for his medical in the new week. Fernandes is considered a quality midfielder with the abilities to create and score goals from the midfield.
The attacking midfielder was exceptional for Sporting last campaign netting 33 goals and contributing 13 assists in all competitions. He would be expected to form a midfield trident alongside Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic.
Liverpool would have gained from Fernandes experience, as they would have helped solve the lack of creativity from the midfield since the exit of Phillipe Coutinho last season.
