Manchester United have gotten a transfer boost from Lazio manager, Simone Inzaghi in the chase for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
Inzaghi in a statement disclosed that he wants the Serbian midfielder to remain at Lazio however, he added that the club would be considerate if a transfer deal comes for him
He added that the Serbian player is old enough to make his decisions on his future.
‘My thoughts are that I’d like Milinkovic-Savic to stay, but I also believe the club has to consider offers when they come in and then make a decision,’ Inzaghi said.
‘We know that if he was to leave, we’d have some important shoes to fill. I hope he remains, he had a great pre-season training camp, but the market is open and we are ready for any situation.
‘Milinkovic will play today’s friendly against Mantova. If he were to leave, we’d need a physical figure to come in to the midfield. Purchases are targeted, chosen together with the club, we sat down and talked calmly.
Milinkovic is 24 years old now, he’s no longer a kid. I can give him advice, he is at our disposal and hasn’t missed a training session, but then I don’t know what will happen. I hope he stays. ‘If an important offer arrives, it is only right that the club take it into consideration.’
Well, the report added that Man Utd could be Milinkovic-Savic next destination. It further revealed that the Red Devils are closing in on a transfer worth £90 million.
Reports from Italy, however, disclosed that the two clubs have reached an agreement but are yet to agree on add-ons.
Milinkovic-Savic is a box-to-box midfielder with physical and mental abilities. He has scored a total of 22 goals in 125 appearances for Lazio since joining in 2015.
Man Utd want the 24-year-old midfielder as a replacement for Paul Pogba, who has been linked with a transfer to Real Madrid and Juventus this summer.
However, if the France international decides to stay back at Old Trafford, himself and Milinkovic-Savic will make a perfect combination at the midfield.
