Unai Emery ‘close’ to making Yannick Carrasco his first summer signing – report

Arsenal are reportedly close to sealing a move for Belgium forward Yannick Carrasco according to reports in Europe.

The 25-year-old has been playing for Chinese Super League side Dalian Yifang after switching from Atletico Madrid last season.

It is understood that the forward is keen to return back to Europe and prefers a move to the Premier League.

Arsenal have emerged front-runners for the player according to Italian reporter Nicolo Shira who revealed on Twitter that the Gunners are close to sealing the transfer.

According to him, the Arsenal have beaten the challenge of Inter Milan in the bid to sign the winger. Carrasco is a quality player on his day but lacks consistency which he can work on under the tutelage of Unai Emery.

He would also provide one attribute that the team lacks in the attack which is natural width. Carrasco has a mix of pace, dribbling ability and an eye for the through pass which would make a valuable addition to the team.

Arsenal are currently hampered with transfer restrictions and may have to sell to fund the transfer for the player valued at £20-£30 million.
