What Sir Alex Ferguson told Harry Maguire over the phone

Manchester United have been linked with Leicester City star Harry Maguire for the past few weeks. However reports in England reveals that Maguire came close to joining the club as a youngster.

English Journalist Andy Mitten revealed on Unibet that the defender received a phone call from legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson when he was still a youngster.

According to the report, it was during his time at Sheffield United that this incident happened. United youth team had just defeated Sheffield United in the FA Youth Cup final in 2011 with the team.

Maguire had spent the night at Manchester after suffering concussion. Manchester United as show of goodwill sent the defender a first team shirt and Sir Alex Ferguson phoned the player a few days later which excited the youngster.

Ferguson reportedly told Maguire that if he keeps working hard and focus that one day he would play at the highest level.

The 26-year-old appears to have followed the advice as he moved up the youth ranks at Sheffield before moving to Hull and later Leicester City.

Manchester United are now reportedly working hard to sign the player but Leicester are demanding a transfer fee of £80 million for the defender.
