Manchester United’s pursuit of Sevilla striker Wissam Ben Yedder appears to have hit a stumbling block according to reports from England. The Daily Express reveals that Sevilla are unwilling to sell the player.
The Spanish side are keen on keeping the player and have made renewed efforts to persuade the forward to remain at the club. It is understood that the club have offered him a new contract in a bid to retain his services.
News of United intention to sign the French forward has been circulating in the media for the past two weeks and it looks like Sevilla are in two minds about whether or not to sell their stare forward this summer.
Manchester United don’t have to worry about Sevilla’s effort as the club can simply trigger his release clause believed to be around £35 million. The club reportedly thinks Yedder as the perfect replacement for Inter Milan bound Romelu Lukaku.
Sevilla could be trying to offer the player a new contract in a bid to increase his release clause.
From the look of things Yedder has agreed personal terms with United with the club waiting for the departure of Lukaku before completing the deal. It remains to be seen how this transfer develops over the weekend.
